Day 1: UK – Cape Town
Depart from London Heathrow with either South African Airways or British Airways for your overnight flight to Cape Town.

Day 2: Cape Town
On arrival in Cape Town, you will be met and transferred* to your hotel.

Day 3: Table Mountain (B,D)

This morning as part of our city tour take a cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain for outstanding views.  Today is a SCENIC FREECHOICE day, choose from the following Scenic FreeChoice inclusions: a visit to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned during the apartheid years; or a visit to the stunning Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens at the foot of Table Mountain.

Day 4: Cape Peninsula (B,L)
Today we set off to explore the most south-westerly point in Africa, Cape Point, taking the ’Flying Dutchman’ funicular train to the summit for outstanding views of the Cape of Good Hope. We travel around the Cape and enjoy lunch in a local restaurant, before a visit to Boulders Beach, home to a protected colony of African Penguins.

Day 5: Cape Town – Oudtshoorn (B,HD)
Farewell memorable Cape Town and journey along Route 62 via Montagu and the ’Klein Karoo’ to Oudtshoorn, known as the feather capital of the world due to its perfect environment for raising ostriches. Visit an ostrich farm to learn about these intriguing birds and see how they are reared. Tonight enjoy a traditional ’Afrikaans’ style dinner with ’Ostrich’ specialities.

Day 6: Oudtshoorn – Knysna (B)
A treat awaits today as you explore the world famous Cango Caves, where the underground chambers are filled with breathtaking limestone formations such as the ’organ pipes’, ’Cleopatra’s needle’ and the ’Kneeling Camel’ – prepare to be amazed! Continue to the resort town of Knysna. The rest of the day is free to spend at leisure.

Day 7: Featherbed Nature Reserve (B,HL)
Explore Knysna this morning at leisure before enjoying a visit to the Featherbed Nature Reserve. A short ferry trip across the lagoon is followed by a trip by Unimog drawn trailer to the top of the reserve. Enjoy the panoramic views at a scenic lookout whilst specialist guides share their knowledge of the local folklore. Once back in the Food Forest, a unique outdoor restaurant situated under the Milkwood Trees, enjoy a spectacular 12 dish buffet lunch. This afternoon return by ferry to Knysna.

Day 8: Knysna – Port Elizabeth (B,D)
Today is a SCENIC FREECHOICE day, choose from the following Scenic FreeChoice inclusions: experience the sounds of the forest with a safari guide in Monkeyland, the world’s only free-roaming multi-species primate sanctuary; or visit the spectacular Birds of Eden sanctuary to discover a vast array of native birdlife. There is time for a brief visit to Storm’s River Mouth in the Tsitsikamma National Park and again at the ’Big Tree’, set in a beautiful indigenous forest. Arrive in Port Elizabeth this afternoon.

Day 9: Port Elizabeth – Zululand (B,D)
An early start this morning as you fly to Durban and embark on an orientation tour which will highlight the fascinating cultural and historical contrasts of this city. Travel through the Dolphin Coast region and enter the heart of Zululand. Arrive in Shakaland, a unique re-creation of a Zulu village, for your overnight stay in a beehive hut. This evening, enjoy a cultural show and dancing.

Day 10: Zululand – Ghost Mountain (B,D)
This morning your cultural experience continues as you learn all facets of traditional Zulu life. Depart late morning and travel to the renowned Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park. After time for lunch you will explore the park in your coach. The Hluhluwe and Umfolozi Reserves are the oldest such havens in Africa, being founded in 1895. It was here that the world-acclaimed Operation Rhino was introduced during the 1960’s, successfully capturing and relocating white rhino to sanctuaries within South Africa and abroad. South Africa’s white rhino population is now 12 times the 1960 count of 500. Recently, Hluhluwe-Umfolozi has focused its efforts on saving the endangered black rhino, whose number in Africa has dwindled from 14,000 to a pitiful 2,550 in the past decade. You’ll find at least a fifth of the world’s black and white rhino population here. In the late afternoon travel to the Ghost Mountain Inn. This evening enjoy a mesmerising display of Zulu dancing.

Day 11: Ghost Mountain – Swaziland (B,D)
Enjoy a cruise on stunning Lake Jozini this morning and with luck experience the thrill of seeing wildlife coming to the waters edge to drink. Your journey heads to the tiny Kingdom of Swaziland. Travel through Big Bend and the heart of the country as you continue to your hotel, picturesquely nestled amongst pine forests.

Day 12: Kruger National Park (B,HD)
A real treat awaits as you enter Kruger National Park and arrive at either Tinga Private Game Lodge or Lion Sands Private Game Reserve for a two night stay. Enjoy an afternoon game drive and return on an evening game drive to the Lodge. Savour the surrounding African bush land whilst dining at the Lodge this evening.

Day 13: Kruger NP – Private Game Viewing (B,L,HD)
Experience morning and evening game drives of this amazing National Park. Limitless game viewing is possible as your open Land Rovers are able to traverse the entire Kruger National Park without restriction. Between drives, relax in the sumptuous surrounds of your Private Game Reserve Lodge. This evening dine in the bush under a blanket of stars.

Day 14: ’Panorama Route’ – Johannesburg (B,D)
Today, journey the world renowned ’Panorama Route’ and witness the stunning Blyde River Canyon, one of Africa’s natural treasures. Visit the Bourke’s Luck Potholes and stop at God’s Window for indescribable views of the densely forested mountain range, contrasted with the fertile lowveld. Arrive this afternoon in Johannesburg.

Day 15: Johannesburg – Victoria Falls (B,D)
Board your flight to Livingstone, Zambia where you will be met and transferred to your hotel, which is located a short stroll from Victoria Falls on the banks of the magnificent Zambezi River. This afternoon you will tour the Zambian side of Victoria Falls and see the powerful and majestic falls at close range.

Day 16: Livingstone (B)
Today visit a local village to gain an appreciation of traditional tribal life. You will also explore the quaint town of Livingstone and visit the Livingstone Museum. This afternoon browse for souvenirs and wander at your own pace or simply relax and enjoy the facilities of your luxury hotel before boarding your vessel for a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. Enjoy sundowners as you absorb this stunning setting from a most unique vantage point.

Day 17: Victoria Falls – Johannesburg (B)
This morning is at leisure to enjoy the Victoria Falls precinct. Transfer to the airport and fly to Johannesburg where you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 18: Johannesburg – Nairobi (B,D)
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight to Nairobi, Kenya. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 19: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park (B,L,D)
Following breakfast leave the city and head south to Amboseli National Park located beneath the tallest freestanding mountain in the world, the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. Check into your hotel and late this afternoon, experience a game drive through the Park.

Day 20: Amboseli National Park (B,L,D)
The snow clad peak of Mount Kilimanjaro soars above you while you enjoy your game drive through the savannah and acacia scrub. Heading deep into the park you will encounter large concentrations of elephants and abundant birdlife such as grey heron, stork and Egyptian goose. We also visit a traditional Maasai Village.  Today is a SCENIC FREECHOICE day, choose from the following Scenic FreeChoice inclusions: a bird walk accompanied by the Lodge’s resident nature expert; or a soothing massage.

Day 21: Amboseli – Mount Kenya National Park (B,L,D)
Nairobi’s famous Safari Park is your lunch destination today, followed by a drive to Mount Kenya National Park. Check into your hotel and enjoy game viewing from the comfort of your lodge.

Day 22: Mt Kenya National Park – Shaba National Park (B,L,D)
Continuing north, we arrive at Shaba National Reserve, with its striking backdrop of the Mathews Range. On arrival enjoy an afternoon game drive.

Day 23: Samburu National Park (B,L,D)
Today enjoy early morning and afternoon game drives in the Samburu National Park. The gently flowing Uaso Nyiro River is the lifeblood of the area, providing water and shade for giraffe, elephant, waterbuck, gazelle, buffalo and the rare Grevy’s zebra.

Day 24: Shaba – Sweetwaters Game Reserve (B,L,D)
This morning an expert naturalist, Benson Lekilwai, will give a specialist talk on the local wildlife and native customs, followed by a private dance performance by a local tribe. We then journey across the equator to the unique Sweetwaters Game Reserve. Situated overlooking a waterhole between snowcapped Mt Kenya and the foothills of the Aberdares Mountains, Sweetwaters Game Reserve is a privately held reserve covering some 24,000 acres. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive.

Day 25: Sweetwaters Game Reserve (B,L,D)
This morning visit the Sweetwaters 200-acre Chimpanzee Sanctuary. The aim of the project was to set up a safe, secure and permanent refuge colony where orphaned and isolated chimps could be introduced, rehabilitated and taught to fend for themselves in an area as natural as possible. Currently there are 40 chimpanzees in the Sanctuary. Day 26: Sweetwaters – Lake Naivasha (B,L,D)
Continue your African journey to Lake Nakuru, home to large flocks of pelicans and pink flamingos. Visit the Nakuru Baby Orphanage Centre, established by an Australian family who have sold their home to care for the local children and the surrounding community. Enjoy lunch with the children for a memorable experience. Enjoy an afternoon game drive en route to Lake Naivasha.

Day 27: Lake Naivasha (B,L,D)
Your Lodge is located on the waters edge and the aquatic playground is home to over 400 bird species and plentiful numbers of giraffes, buffalos and monkeys. Enjoy a morning boat cruise and encounter hippos in their natural habitat. This afternoon, enjoy a trip into the nearby Hells Gate Nature Reserve, a renowned breeding ground for eagles, so named for the red cliffs that surround a series of steam vents.

Day 28: Masai Mara National Reserve (B,L,D)
Drive to Masai Mara National Reserve where a once in a lifetime experience awaits as you witness the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth – the Great Migration (seasonal). This awe-inspiring event sees mass herds of over 1.3 million wildebeest, 360,000 gazelle and 200,000 zebra on their annual migratory path, followed closely by their natural predators. You will arrive in time for an afternoon game drive.

Day 29: Masai Mara National Reserve (B,L,D)
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives through the Masai Mara, home to the largest population of lions in Kenya. Vast herds of zebra, impala, antelope, gazelle and giraffe grace the landscape, hippos populate the stream and lakes and the woodlands and savannah are home to leopard, lion, hyena and cheetah.

Day 30: Nairobi – UK (HB)
This morning enjoy a bush breakfast and then fly to Nairobi to connect with your flight to the UK with British Airways.
